Alice F. Squires, Ph.D., ESEP-ACQ, PMP, CPEM, currently serves as a Professor at the University of Arkansas (UARK) within the Industrial Engineering department. Throughout her career, Dr. Squires has served as an engineer/scientist, author, editor, manager, professor, researcher, and systems engineer with 40 years of combined experience in industry and academia. She holds a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ; an M.B.A. from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA; and a B.S.E.E from the University of Maryland, College, Park, MD.
Dr. Squires has been part of INCOSE for over 20 years. She was a core team member of the Body of Knowledge and Curriculum to Advance Systems Engineering effort that produced “The Guide to the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge” wiki and the “Graduate Reference Curriculum for Systems Engineering.” She founded the Empowering Women Leaders in Systems Engineering initiative that produced the INCOSE Insight “Diversity and Systems Engineering” edition, “Letters to My Younger Self: How Systems Engineering Changed My Life,” and “Emerging Trends in Systems Engineering Leadership: Practical Research from Women Leaders.” She proactively supports diversity, equity, and inclusion as key principles of successful leadership.
Of note, Dr. Squires was a key contributing member of the American Society of Engineering Education Diversity Committee that was awarded the 2016 Women in Engineering Pro-Active Network Strategic Partner Award, and the Body of Knowledge and Curriculum in Systems Engineering core team that INCOSE awarded the 2012 Product of the Year Award. IEEE-USA published her eBook “Dandelion Wishes: A World Where We Collaborate as Equals (Book 21)” in 2018, which is now part of a 24-book IEEE-USA collection - that describes her engineering journey, including overcoming obstacles. She also holds a volunteer elected Director position
on the Board of Directors of the Corporate Member Council and the Systems Engineering Division within the American Society of Engineering Education.
Dr. Squires enjoys cycling, swimming, writing, playing pickleball, and advocating for others.
